Reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and pathogenic bacteria requires a combination of personal responsibility as well as maintaining strict cleaning and disinfecting procedures to reopen the places we work, learn, eat, and sleep. To this end, everyone has a responsibility to slow the spread of the virus through infection prevention measure such as social distancing, wearing face masks, and frequent hand washing as well as using alcohol based (60% alcohol) sanitizers. Routine cleaning with synthetic cleaning wipes/towels and the appropriate detergent removes bio-organic solids on surfaces and objects more effectively; and MUST be performed prior to a disinfectant being applied. Otherwise, your disinfectant treatment may be less effective in reducing infection risk. Additionally, the frequency of routine cleaning should be based on the environmental conditions (e.g. food service and prep areas) and risk tolerance of the population (e.g. healthcare facilities).
